Camping and hiking are both great ways to spend some time bonding with the whole family. Combining rock, snow, and ice climbing with hiking and sometimes camping, and it is understandable why it is such a timeless sport.
Ice climbing is an absolute blast once you get past the fact you are essentially climbing water. Some devices offer the same benefits of heat, wide range of illumination and reliability but do not include common risks a campfire could cause. Carry sufficient bottled water and also carry along a few water purifying tablets for any emergencies.
One thing I always enjoyed as a child was camping with the family. I got a very well made tent that was certified for Arctic conditions. Lightweight waterproof jackets and pants are good items for protection against rain and wind.
Nothing is as relaxing as gazing into the hypnotizing flames, so get camping. There are many types of camping to choose from, depending on your budget and taste for roughing it.
