grand canyon hiking tips - just like dad used to do it

Some people prefer climbing and hiking through fast routes and short distances whereas others like climbing longer rock faces. For those interested in an exciting outdoor adventure in the cooler weather, winter camping may be the choice for you.

Carrying your maps and compass in water proof containers is very essential while on a camping trip. I like an occasional break from the madness of the city, and like to go out for a camping or hiking trip. Make sure that you have a good first aid kit too.

Spend time in shade whenever resting and wear skin protection like hats, sunscreen, light cotton clothing when exposed to the sun. On the days of really terrible weather, we would try to put up with it, but sometimes went home. The weather is one part of nature that can't be fooled with.

Never use the gas lanterns in the tent. Dehydrated food can be an ideal way to carry a fair amount of food without it taking up a lot of space or being too heavy to carry. The sport can get expensive when you start thinking about flying off to exotic locations to climb some beast of a cliff.

Indoor climbing is a safe way to get a feel for the sport of rock climbing. If you are interested in mountain climbing, it is definitely something people everywhere will tell you is worth pursuing!
