Flashlights, lanterns, sleeping bags or blankets, pillows, pots and pans, utensils, cooler, rain gear, folding chairs, campfire wood are all essentials for a great camping trip. Being adequately prepared, packing the right items and sticking to your limits can make your adventure enjoyable and fun.
Camping is an adventure, it's exciting, different and fun. Although some indoor rock climbers do not ever make the step into outdoor climbing, indoor climbing gyms provide learning and practicing venues for those planning on taking it outdoors. Since you are hiking, it will be necessary to carry everything needed for your adventure on your back.
If you are going to be backpacking in running shoes rather than hiking boots, you'll want to strengthen your ankles. The best lantern to use inside a tent is a battery style. To prepare for a hiking trip, sometimes I train on a bike as it uses a lot of the same muscles you use when hiking uphill.
Bring along a camera, binoculars and a magnifying glass on your camping and hiking trips as their will be lots to see. You could sneak in there before everyone else did, and pretend it was your own little home. Prepare the fire with tiers of kindling and a few pieces of larger wood.
You will need to replace shoes every so often, but it is really a minor expense compared to other sports. Get out there and try it!
